Last Saturday, on September 9th, 2023, the Zimbabwe Mixed Martial Arts Association (ZMMAA) conducted a provincial seminar at Mwurwi High School in collaboration with the RoyGri Recreation Club. Notably, the seminar witnessed a remarkable increase in female participation, surpassing any previous seminars, including adults and teenagers. Coaching certificates were duly issued, marking the event as a resounding success and establishing our presence in the Mashcentral Province.
RoyGri Recreation Club, domiciled in Mvurwi, offers an array of sports codes. On Saturday, 9th September, the club officially added Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) to their Combat Sports Curriculum, which was predominantly boxing š„.
This came to fruition courtesy of an official launch of MMA by the Zimbabwe MMA Federation Secretariat comprising the President, Secretary General, and the Technical Director. A training course for MMA Trainers, which saw 13 attendees (7 males and 6 females) being trained and certified, was successfully held on the sidelines of this event. Three of the beneficiaries were from Harare, while the rest hail from Mash Central Province, mainly from Mvurwi Community. Mvurwi High School hostedĀ thisĀ event.
It’s been a long journey to come to this point for ZMMAA as we spread the sport of MMA in Zimbabwe. We have exciting events that are being organized as we speak, and before the end of the year, we are going to make exciting announcements.
