5 November 2022 marked our first-ever Provincial Seminar as an Association. It took place at Manicaland Girl Guides Hall at Jubilee Gardens, Mutare. It was officialized by the ZMMAA President Felix Munyaradzi Matsitsiro and his team, which included Secretary General Barnabas Wayne Kademaunga, National Head Coach Lewis Mataya and Assistant Coach Tyler Kawocha.

We couldn’t have done this without our Manicaland team, newly appointed in October this year. The Manicaland ZMMAA heads showed initiative and leadership, and they invited parties as far as Chipinge to participate in the coaching seminar. From the picture above, from the left head side are Provincial President Abel Farai Mapondo, Provincial Director Simbarashe Wayne Mangena, Provincial Secretary Nyasha Muchirewesi and Provincial Head Coach Stanely Mupunga, respectively.

ZMMAA board happily certified 22 participants from all over Manicaland, with 5 achieving national Level 1 Coaching certificates and 17 gaining certifications in fundamentals to Mixed Martial Arts. The seminar included the Theory of MMA, Rules and Regulations, Fundamentals of boxing, clinch work, kicking and grappling for MMA. Lewis Mataya used a more relaxed approach to the seminar than the more serious approach in traditional martial arts as participants were combing from different martial arts backgrounds.
